The VicBioCon Organising Committee is pleased to offer three grants to encourage greater participation and inclusion in the VicBioCon community.
Applications for grants are currently closed

The Breaking Barriers Grant

This grant was established with the first Victorian Biodiversity Conference in 2017 following a small but important donation, and has grown from there. The Grant has become part of the culture of the conference – through it we hope to ensure that the event is as inclusive, supportive and diverse as possible. This grant is only available to presenters at VicBioCon.

The VicBioCon Research Grant

The Research Grant is aimed at supporting PhD students and early career scientists undertaking research or conservation action within Victoria. We also welcome applicants from land managers, environmental educators, and community organisations (e.g. ‘Friends of’ groups) who are actively engaged in projects that increase understanding or persistence of biodiversity within Victoria. The grant is intended to cater for our diverse audience of researchers, students and community members dedicated to conserving biodiversity in Victoria. This year, the VicBioCon Research Grant is proudly sponsored by the Natural Resources Conservation Trust.

The Youth Engagement in Forest Conservation Grant

This grant, kindly sponsored by the Natural Resources Conservation Trust, will support research projects that encourage and educate youth engagement in forest conservation. Applicants should be aged 30 or under or involved in a research project aimed at this cohort. Research projects should promote the sustainable management of forests, conserve soil and water quality, or promote participation of youth in forest conservation.

We acknowledge and respect Victorian Traditional Owners as the original custodians of Victoria’s land and waters, their unique ability to care for Country and deep spiritual connection to it. We honour Elders past and present whose knowledge and wisdom has ensured the continuation of culture and traditional practices.
